Have we really learned our lesson? Is our lesson to put politicians who only have their private interests into office over and over again? Well, we can’t blame ourselves, right? After all, these so-called “public servants” do a good job in deceiving us during the campaign period. When they win, we can just blame it on them, right? Yeah, we dump all the causes of the problems to whoever wins. Has this become the Filipino’s cycle of life? To blame others for something that we had a part in doing? As Mr. T always says, “I pity the fool!” In many instances, we are the fools.
Let’s not blame our problems (may they be quarterlife crisis, financial issues or any other problems) that we may be having to the government or to the elected officials. We must not rest on the premise that any problem our country is encountering can be solved by mass action in the streets. Yes, mass action can help. It has in some instances. But why not come together even before a problem arises? Prevention is the best medicine, as doctors say.
Today, we “celebrate” another event in our country’s history. A history filled with mass action and other acts of unity. Maybe some for the wrong reasons. Let us not wait for another dictator. Let us not wait for someone who will rob the country of its integrity and pride once again. Let our mass action be to elect officials (not just a president) who are true public servants. Those who put the people first and not their own companies and their friends’ interests and all those other things that we will complain about in the future. Let our mass action start now. Before we regret it. And before we blame others for it—again. My parents always remind me that we only have ourselves to blame for our own misfortune. And they have been accurate.
Let’s be responsible before we become regretful. This should be our mass action. And it starts with you.
Pinoy Quarterlife Crisis is a phenomenon that occurs in the lives of Pinoys mostly aged 23 to 35. It's where you feel lost, useless and in limbo and not knowing what to do and where to go. Quarterlife Crisis is normal in any nationality too. You are normal (or not) and you are not alone. Everyone is or has experienced this. Don't worry, everything's gonna be okay. Read this blog and together let us find the way.

Somehow, I do agree with Bong Bong Marcos' statement, that EDSA 1 is a failure. Its really a good thing that the people-then was successfully kicked-out the dictator through a bloodless revolution and they're able to restore the "democracy". But the failure comes in, because there's still corruption in the country and it's even worst that the concept of corruption before.
ReplyDeleteI agree, let's learn from the past and vote wisely. I do hope that most filipinos would think like you do. It is in our hands who would sit in that position, and keep in mind that an elected president should put our country first before his own interest. Love your blog ^_^ Will follow your blog from now on.
